I’m at the end of a movitational cycle at my job. I find myself procrastinating and avoiding. I need some time off.

Not all cycles last the same amount of time. This end comes shortly after finding out my employer is withholding promotions and rewards to cut costs. Presumably they are doing so to enable continued investment in AI products and services. That’s fine. I’ll reshuffle my resources, too.

My reading appetite has grown like it usually does when my working appetite diminishes. I’m make steady progress on The Grapes of Wrath, halfway through now. On the side, I began reading Crying in H-Mart. I like reading an easy book while I read a special one. I can skate through one and use the momentum to trudge through the other. Last year, I read Pachinko while I read Blood Meridian. I don’t have hard evidence to prove it, but I think I read harder books more quickly if I read an easy one at the same time.
