catching my breath

I enjoyed thoroughly the last twenty or so days of January after I returned from a four week vacation in Mexico. I eased back into work, spent time reading, played soccer two sometimes three times weekly, and spent leisurely nights out at a hidden neighborhood bar and venue. Then, unexpectedly, February kicked things up a couple gears. We moved out of my place in Seattle and started looking for property in Vancouver. Late March will be busy, too. We’ll be closing the deal on a condo, fixing up a couple things, moving in, and moving out of our apartment in Vancouver. Then April will be a period of domestic dishevelment and gradual settling. But right now, tonight, things are calm. We have respite from the deadlines and the tasks and the paperwork. Nothing too pressing. Moments like this one are easy to notice when they’re missing and easy to miss when they’re happening. So I’m taking a moment to notice it, and to savor it.
